recently reported that - based lease-to-own retailing is celerating the fact that its largest SEI/Aaron's has announced the opening of its 100th location; which is located in Concord, NH.
The article notes that master franchisee SEI/Aaron's was founded in April 1995 by Charles Smithgall when it was awarded an Aaron's franchise, which it opened its first location in Novemeber 1995. The majority of SEI/Aaron's franchise locations are in New England as it continues to open its own franchise locations in addition to acquiring locations from other Aaron's franchisees.
The Aaron's franchise model is interesting in that it is not a major franchise space for other franchise opportunities, or for those who want to learn how to franchise. But it is easy to see why the model is succeeding. Cash and credit are tight, and there is always demand for furniture, electronics, and appliances; and the lease or rent-to-own is always going to appeal to a significant segment of the population. And in the case of Aaron's in general and in SEI/Aaron's in specific, these companies have figured out an efficient and profitable method to source and retail these products.
Congratulations to SEI/Aaron's for the opening of its 100th location, and hopefully hundreds more in the future!
Happy Franchising!
